City Portal Helps Residents Look Up Permits and Property Records

Torrance’s online records search gives residents access to active permits, permit records, and parcel information from home.

Torrance residents looking into building permits, property details, or past records have an online place to start.

The City’s Community Development Department Building and Safety Division Records portal offers several search options. According to the City, Active Building Permits provides information about active Building and Safety permits. Permit Records gives access to scanned Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, Electrical, Grading, Sign, and Engineering permit records. Property Information provides parcel details such as zoning, special overlay areas, assessor parcel number, year built, legal description, and more.

The City notes that building and architectural plans are not available through the system because they are copyrighted material. Residents who need to view commercial or residential plans are directed to contact the City Clerk’s Office or submit a Public Records Request.

For homeowners, buyers, neighbors, and small business owners, the portal can be a useful first stop before making calls or visiting City Hall.
