Planning Commission Hearing Includes Restaurant, Brewery, and Hillside Property Requests

The May 6 hearing gives residents a chance to follow local land-use decisions.

The Torrance Planning Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in the LeRoy J. Jackson Council Chamber at 3031 Torrance Boulevard. The hearing notice lists several items, including residential additions in the Hillside Overlay area, a request involving Scholb Premium Ales for an outdoor patio addition at 2964 Columbia Street, and a conditional-use request for a restaurant with alcohol service at 1409 Marcelina Avenue in Downtown Torrance.

This is a City Hall Watch item because it deals with public hearings, land-use review, permits, and neighborhood impacts. It should not be treated as a Bites & Bottles article unless a restaurant later opens and becomes a dining story.

Planning decisions can affect neighborhood character, parking, business activity, outdoor dining, and nearby residents’ daily experience.

Review the public hearing notice and submit comments or attend the May 6 meeting if one of the listed projects affects your neighborhood.
