Motorcycle Safety Enforcement Planned in Torrance This Month

Torrance Police say officers will conduct motorcycle safety enforcement operations throughout May.

The Torrance Police Department published a new public-safety notice on May 6, 2026, reminding drivers to watch carefully for motorcycles as more riders take to the roads during warmer weather. Sergeant Michael Guell said many crashes involving motorcycles happen when drivers simply do not see riders in time.

TPD says it will conduct motorcycle safety enforcement operations throughout the month of May. The department also reminds drivers to check mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes, avoid following motorcycles too closely, and stay alert when motorcycles signal. Riders are reminded to wear DOT-compliant helmets, use protective clothing, ride defensively, keep lights on, and avoid distracted or impaired riding.

Motorcycles can be harder to see in traffic, and enforcement reminders may affect drivers and riders across Torrance throughout May.
