City Reminds Residents About Sidewalk Vending Rules

Torrance’s sidewalk vending page explains permit requirements, enforcement, and fines for vendors and cottage food activity.

The City of Torrance has a dedicated sidewalk vending information page explaining how local vending rules are enforced. The page notes that the City enforces the Food Vending Code, the Sidewalk Vending Ordinance, and violations of the Cottage Food Ordinance.

The City lists fines for vending without a valid sidewalk vending permit at $250 for a first violation, $500 for a second violation, and $1,000 for a third and each later violation. It also lists separate fines for vendors with permits who violate the municipal code, as well as cottage food violations.

Residents, small food operators, and neighborhood groups can use the City’s sidewalk vending page to better understand what is allowed, what requires a permit, and how local enforcement works.
