Torrance Water Rates Are Scheduled to Keep Rising

City water rate adjustments are planned through 2029, making conservation and bill awareness more important for local households.

Torrance homeowners may want to pay closer attention to water use as city water rate adjustments continue over the next several years.

The City of Torrance says water rate adjustments for 2025 through 2029 include overall average system increases of 6.5% in both 2025 and 2026, followed by average annual increases of 6% in 2027, 2028, and 2029.

The city explains that water rates include two major parts: a fixed Meter Service Charge, also known as a Readiness-to-Serve charge, and a variable Commodity Charge based on the amount of water used. That means household bills can be affected by both fixed service costs and day-to-day water consumption.

For homeowners, this is a practical reminder to check irrigation schedules, look for leaks, monitor outdoor watering, and review household usage patterns. Small changes such as repairing sprinkler heads, adjusting timers, replacing inefficient fixtures, and watching for unusually high bills can matter more when rates are rising.

This is not just a utility notice. It is a home-budget issue. Families planning ahead may want to review their water bills now and look for realistic ways to reduce waste before future increases add up.
