Torrance residents doing a garage cleanout, room refresh, or post-move cleanup should know about the city’s large-item pickup option.
The City of Torrance says residents with City trash collection can request a free pickup of large or bulky items once per calendar year per address. This can be useful for items such as furniture, appliances, mattresses, and other oversized household goods that do not belong in regular trash containers.
The program also helps reduce illegal dumping. Leaving large items on sidewalks, parkways, alleys, or streets can create neighborhood problems and may not qualify as proper disposal. Scheduling a pickup through the city is the cleaner and safer route.
Residents should check the city’s instructions before placing items out, since pickup rules, accepted items, and scheduling details matter. Multi-family residents or residents who do not receive City trash service may need to work through their property manager or private hauler.
