Torrance Offers Vacation Home Checks for Residents |
Police and trained volunteers can check for visible signs of trouble while residents are away. |
Before leaving town, Torrance residents may want to add one more item to the travel checklist: request a Vacation Security Check.
The Torrance Police Department offers Vacation Security Checks as a free service to Torrance residents. While residents are away, officers and trained department volunteers may periodically check the home for visible signs of suspicious activity.
The city says those visible concerns can include open doors, broken windows, or other possible security issues noticed from outside the home.
This service does not replace basic home safety steps, but it can add another layer of awareness while residents are traveling. Homeowners should still lock doors and windows, pause deliveries when needed, avoid announcing travel plans publicly, and ask a trusted neighbor to keep an eye on the property.
For residents planning summer vacations, family trips, or extended time away, the city’s Vacation Home Check page is worth reviewing before departure.
