Torrance Community Gardens Offer a Quiet Place to Grow |
Garden plots at Columbia Park and Lago Seco Park give residents a peaceful way to grow food and connect with neighbors. |
For residents who like the idea of growing fresh produce but do not have enough space at home, Torrance Community Gardens offer a local solution.
The city’s community gardens are located at Columbia Park and Lago Seco Park. According to the City of Torrance, they are designed to give residents a peaceful, friendly space to “get their hands in the dirt,” grow fresh produce, and connect with neighbors outdoors.
Plots are currently full, but residents can join the city’s waitlist to be notified when space becomes available. The city lists garden plot locations at Columbia Park, 4045 190th Street, and Lago Seco Park, 3920 235th Street.
This is a quieter kind of hidden gem. It is not flashy, and it is not a tourist stop. But for gardeners, families, retirees, apartment dwellers, and anyone who likes the idea of growing food in community, it is one of Torrance’s most neighborly local resources.
