Street Sweeping Tickets Can Still Happen After the Sweeper Passes

orrance reminds drivers to follow the full posted parking restriction, not just the sweeper’s timing.

Torrance drivers should not assume it is safe to park just because the street sweeper has already gone by.

The City of Torrance says posted street sweeping restrictions are enforced, and the current citation amount is $52. The city’s Street Sweeping FAQ also explains that drivers should avoid parking after the sweeper passes and should continue following the posted three-hour parking restriction.

That reminder matters because enforcement staff may follow the sweeper’s route, but timing can vary. If the sweeper and enforcement vehicle become separated, parking early can still create a ticket risk.

Residential street sweeping generally takes place Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., while major streets and industrial areas are swept early in the morning to reduce traffic impacts.

For residents, the safest move is simple: check the posted signs on your block, move your vehicle for the full restriction window, and do not rely only on whether the sweeper has already passed.
