Torrance residents with city trash collection may want to review the latest refuse rates and container rules, especially with new rates listed as of July 1, 2026.
The city’s trash collection rates are based on container size. Residents who need more capacity can request a larger 96-gallon trash container. Recycling and green waste containers are available at no additional cost and come in 64-gallon and 96-gallon sizes.
The city also reminds residents to place containers at the curb by 7 a.m. on collection day, leave space between containers, keep them away from cars and obstructions, and avoid placing loose materials on the ground.
Qualifying low-income seniors or permanently disabled residents may also be eligible for a reduced rate if they meet the city’s criteria.
