Sports Take Center Stage at Torrance Art Museum |
TAM’s current main-gallery exhibition explores sports, identity, competition, culture, and community through contemporary art. |
Sports fans and art lovers have a shared reason to visit Torrance Art Museum this summer.
The museum’s current main-gallery exhibition, “CHAMPIONS! – Sports in Contemporary Art,” is on view from June 6 through July 18, 2026. The exhibition explores the cultural power of sports through contemporary art, including painting, photography, sculpture, and video.
Rather than treating athletics as only competition, the show looks at sports as a space where identity, spectacle, community, politics, gender, media, nationalism, celebrity, and personal ambition intersect.
Torrance Art Museum is also showing “We Are Minnesota: Art as Resistance” in Gallery Two and “liminal level,” an immersive hallway installation by artist Darel Carey.
Admission is free.
