South Bay Dozen Brings Ocean Racing to Torrance Beach

The 20th edition of the beachside competition returns July 11 with racing, teamwork, junior athletes, and a charitable mission.

A major ocean-racing event is headed back to Torrance Beach.

The South Bay Dozen returns on Saturday, July 11, 2026, bringing a full day of beach competition, teamwork, and community energy to the shoreline.

According to Discover Torrance, the event is designed to encourage community, health, philanthropy, and fun through ocean racing. The 20th edition will feature twelve ocean-racing events, with elite men and women competing alongside opportunities that support junior athlete development, including an under-19 division.

The event also serves as a fundraiser for the Jimmy Miller Foundation, which uses ocean-based programs to support healing and mental wellness.

For residents, this is a good chance to see Torrance Beach in event mode, with athletes from across California, the East Coast, and beyond expected to take part.
