Tiny Trains Bring Big Smiles at Wilson Park |
Southern California Live Steamers gives families a charming miniature railroad experience tucked inside one of Torrance’s busiest parks. |
Wilson Park has sports fields, picnic areas, a farmers market, and plenty of daily activity. But tucked inside the park is one of Torrance’s most delightful hidden gems: Southern California Live Steamers.
The volunteer-run miniature railroad gives families a chance to ride small-scale trains around a dedicated track area inside the park. It is the kind of simple, old-fashioned outing that feels increasingly rare — low-key, local, and full of charm.
Public run days are typically held on the first Sunday of the month from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the third Saturday of the month from noon to 3 p.m., weather permitting.
For families with young kids, grandparents looking for an easy outing, or anyone who loves trains, this is a Torrance treasure worth remembering. It is also a good reminder that sometimes the best local adventures are hiding in places residents already drive past every week.
