Some of Torrance’s most interesting art is not inside a museum. It is out in the open, waiting on walls, civic spaces, parks, and neighborhood corridors.

The City of Torrance’s public murals bring color and creativity to everyday places, turning blank walls and public spaces into landmarks that reflect local history, culture, and community pride.

That makes the mural collection a perfect Hidden Gems feature. Residents can explore pieces casually during a walk, make a quick photo stop, or build their own mini mural tour around Old Torrance, civic spaces, and other public-art locations.

It is also a fun reminder that public art does more than decorate. It gives neighborhoods identity, creates conversation, and makes the city feel more alive.

For families, photographers, walkers, and anyone who likes discovering small surprises close to home, Torrance’s murals are worth adding to the weekend list.
