Torrance drivers have a clear July reminder: slow down.

The Torrance Police Department says it will have additional officers on patrol during the month of July looking for drivers who are speeding or driving too fast for conditions. The campaign is meant to reduce dangerous driving behavior and improve safety for everyone using local streets.

For residents, this is especially relevant around shopping centers, parks, schools, neighborhood streets, and major corridors where traffic can change quickly. Summer schedules can make people feel rushed, but speeding leaves less time to react and can turn a routine drive into a serious crash risk.

The practical takeaway is simple: leave a little earlier, watch the posted limits, and drive like someone you care about may be crossing the street ahead.
