Torrance Transit’s Fleet Modernization Moves Forward |
New buses and charging infrastructure are part of a cleaner transit future. |
Torrance Transit is continuing its move toward a more modern, cleaner, and better-equipped bus fleet.
The agency’s Fleet Modernization page says more than $20 million in competitive grant funding has been awarded for replacement and expansion buses, with those buses scheduled to arrive in mid-2026. Torrance Transit also received additional grant funding for heavy-duty vehicle charging infrastructure and a solar-powered light-duty charging station for smaller vehicles.
For riders, the impact may not feel immediate in one dramatic moment. But these are the kinds of infrastructure upgrades that shape the reliability, sustainability, and long-term quality of local transit service.
The modernization effort also comes as Torrance Transit continues to play a larger regional role, connecting residents to local destinations, employment centers, regional transit hubs, and special service options. Cleaner vehicles and charging infrastructure are not just background upgrades — they are part of how Torrance prepares its transportation system for the next decade.
