Torrance Seniors May Qualify for Free Home Safety Upgrades

The city’s Home Improvement Program helps eligible seniors and residents with disabilities.

Torrance residents who are aging at home — or caring for someone who is — should know about the city’s Home Improvement Program.

The City of Torrance says seniors and residents with disabilities may qualify for free home safety upgrades through the program. It appears under the city’s Home and Community Services resources for older adults, alongside other support services such as housing, transportation, referrals, and caregiver resources.

This is the kind of practical Homefront item that can make a real difference. A small home safety improvement may help reduce fall risk, make daily movement easier, or allow someone to stay in their home with more confidence.

For families, this is also a good reminder to look at the home before a crisis happens. If a parent, neighbor, or loved one is having trouble with stairs, bathrooms, walkways, or other safety concerns, this program is worth checking.
