Things are about to get wonderfully ogre-sized at the James Armstrong Theatre.

The Aerospace Players are presenting Shrek the Musical, the stage adaptation inspired by the popular animated story about an unlikely hero, a determined princess, a talkative donkey, and a kingdom full of uprooted fairytale characters.

The production opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 17, and will feature a live orchestra. Six performances are scheduled, with the final show taking place as a matinee on Saturday, July 25.

At its heart, Shrek the Musical is a funny and upbeat story about friendship, self-acceptance, and discovering that happily ever after does not always look the way people expect.
