Torrance has more natural surprises than many residents realize—and Henrietta Basin is one of them.

Residents can explore the basin during a guided program from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18. Located at 20501 Henrietta Street, the site is one of several storm-water collection basins operating within Torrance.

Although its role in local water management is important, Henrietta Basin is more than a piece of city infrastructure. The area also provides habitat for wildlife, trails for nature observers, and a natural water-treatment system. That combination makes it an interesting example of how open space can support both environmental and practical community needs.

The morning program gives participants an opportunity to slow down, observe the surroundings, and learn how the basin quietly contributes to Torrance. It is also a chance to discover a local outdoor space that can be easy to overlook while driving through the neighborhood.
