The Torrance Certified Farmers’ Market is making it easier to bring seasonal produce home—even for residents who cannot shop at Wilson Park during regular market hours.
The city’s new Farmers’ Market Subscription Program allows participants to order a produce box online and collect it the following Tuesday from noon to 3 p.m. at Bartlett Senior Center, located at 1318 Cravens Avenue.
A local chef selects each week’s fruits and vegetables according to seasonal availability. Everyone purchasing the same share size receives the same produce selection, so the program works more like a curated weekly box than a conventional shopping trip.
Three box sizes are available:
Orders must be placed through the city’s recreation website by Wednesday for pickup the following Tuesday. Availability may be limited, so residents interested in a particular week should avoid waiting until the final moment.
The program combines several attractive ideas: supporting the local farmers market, reducing the inconvenience of fixed market hours, and introducing shoppers to produce they might not select on their own. Weekly pickup dates are scheduled through September 15. Residents can review the schedule and ordering instructions on the city’s official
Farmers’ Market Subscription Program page.
