Torrance residents can spend Saturday afternoon learning how to turn nature into watercolor art.

Local artist Amelia Haru will lead the second installment of a three-part workshop series at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 18, at Henderson Library. This session will focus on flora and fauna, giving participants an opportunity to explore natural subjects through watercolor techniques.

Haru will provide step-by-step instruction aimed at helping attendees create more captivating paintings. The library notes that all supplies will be provided, removing the need for participants to purchase brushes, paper, or paint before attending.

The workshop is suitable for residents who already enjoy painting as well as beginners who may be curious about watercolor but unsure where to start. Guided instruction can make the medium feel less intimidating, especially because watercolor often requires a different approach to layering, blending, and controlling pigment than other forms of painting.
