Sometimes people want to help their community but do not know where to begin. The Volunteer Center South Bay–Harbor–Long Beach has spent decades making that first step easier.

Headquartered at 1230 Cravens Avenue in Downtown Torrance, the nonprofit connects residents, families, schools, community groups, and companies with hands-on service opportunities. Its work focuses on practical needs such as food insecurity, unequal access to educational supplies, and youth well-being.

The organization also operates Operation Teddy Bear, a literacy initiative established in 1994.
