Torrance residents may be more familiar with Hollywood than they realize.

The city has served as a backdrop for hundreds of television episodes, films, advertisements, and other productions. Familiar streets and buildings have quietly stood in for fictional communities, high schools, family homes, offices, and neighborhoods across decades of entertainment.

The city’s most recognizable screen landmark is Torrance High School. Its historic campus has appeared in productions including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Beverly Hills, 90210, She’s All That, Not Another Teen Movie, and Bruce Almighty.

Fans of Buffy can also recognize the exterior used as the character’s Revello Drive home at 1313 Cota Avenue. Other Torrance locations appeared in Scarface and Horrible Bosses, while Del Amo Fashion Center has been used in films including Bad Santa and Valley Girl.

Discover Torrance provides a self-guided itinerary and film map that can turn an ordinary drive into a local sightseeing trip. Because some locations are active schools, businesses, or private residences, visitors should remain on public property, avoid disturbing occupants, and treat residential stops as respectful drive-bys.

The experience offers a fun reminder that a place does not need a studio gate or famous sign to have a screen history. Sometimes the set is simply a familiar Torrance building that residents have driven past for years.
