Torrance Police Step Up Speed Enforcement During July |
Additional officers are watching for drivers traveling too fast for posted limits or road conditions. |

Drivers may notice additional Torrance Police Department officers monitoring local streets during July as part of a speed-prevention campaign.
Police say officers will be looking for motorists exceeding posted speed limits or driving too fast for current conditions. A posted limit is not always a safe speed when traffic is heavy, visibility is poor, pedestrians are nearby or road conditions have changed. The department is reminding drivers that higher speeds leave less time to react and increase the force of a collision. Speeding can be especially dangerous near schools, parks, shopping areas, residential streets and intersections with frequent pedestrian activity. Residents can help reduce the risk by allowing more travel time, avoiding aggressive acceleration and maintaining additional distance from the vehicle ahead.
The campaign’s central message is straightforward: arriving a few minutes later is far better than risking a serious crash. Embedded Article Link
