The Torrance Social Services Commission is scheduled to meet Thursday, July 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the West Annex Commission Meeting Room at City Hall.

The commission provides advice and recommendations on issues affecting several populations that may require specialized support. Its areas of responsibility include veterans, people experiencing homelessness, adults with developmental disabilities and children with special needs.

Unlike the City Council, commissions generally do not make final city policy. Instead, they study issues, receive information from staff and community organizations, listen to residents and make recommendations that can inform later City Council decisions.
