At the southern end of the Strand, Torrance offers a less-crowded stretch of sand with ocean views, coastal biking, and easy access to Miramar Park.

Torrance may be known for shopping, business, restaurants, and residential neighborhoods, but the city also has its own stretch of coastline hiding at the foot of the Hollywood Riviera.

Torrance Beach extends for approximately 1.5 miles along the southern end of the South Bay shoreline. Because it sits beyond the busiest portions of Redondo Beach and Hermosa Beach, it can feel calmer and less commercial than many nearby coastal destinations.

The beach offers views toward the Palos Verdes Peninsula and connects directly with the Strand, the paved coastal path used by cyclists, runners, and walkers. Discover Torrance notes that the bike path begins at Torrance Beach and continues north along the coast for approximately 22 miles.

Visitors will find parking, restrooms, outdoor showers, a lifeguard station, and a beach café. Those amenities make the area practical for a full beach day, but the location also works well for a shorter walk, sunset stop, or morning bike ride.

One of the best parts of the experience is directly above the sand.

A ramp leads from the beach toward Miramar Park, a small 1.1-acre green space with panoramic ocean views. Its name fittingly translates to “sea view.” The park provides a peaceful place to pause above the coastline without committing to an entire afternoon on the sand.

Miramar Park also contains a marker recognizing the former Hollywood Riviera Beach Club, which occupied the site from 1931 until 1958. That detail gives the overlook a layer of local history many visitors pass without noticing.

The combination makes this hidden gem unusually flexible. Residents can walk the shore, exercise on the Strand, enjoy a picnic, photograph the sunset, or simply sit above the ocean for a few quiet minutes.

Torrance Beach is not truly secret, but compared with the South Bay’s better-known beach scenes, it still feels like one of the city’s most overlooked advantages.
