The Kickin’ Crab Brings Seafood Boils to Torrance |
The new restaurant near Carson Street and Western Avenue serves customizable bags of crab, shrimp, crawfish, lobster, and Cajun-style sides. |

Torrance diners now have another place to roll up their sleeves, put on a bib, and tackle a bag of seasoned seafood.
The Kickin’ Crab has opened a Torrance location near the intersection of Carson Street and Western Avenue. The restaurant is now included in the company’s official location directory.
The chain specializes in Cajun-influenced seafood boils served directly in plastic bags containing seafood, sauce, seasonings, and optional add-ins.
Customers generally begin by choosing their seafood. The company’s menu includes selections such as shrimp, crawfish, snow crab legs, Dungeness crab, lobster, clams, mussels, and other choices that may vary by location or availability.
Diners then select a sauce and heat level. The format allows a table to customize its order, from relatively mild garlic-butter flavors to more assertive Cajun-style seasoning.
Popular additions include corn, potatoes, and sausage, which soak up the sauce inside the bag. The broader menu also includes items such as wings, seasoned fries, gumbo, calamari, and fried seafood.
This style of dining is intentionally casual and messy. Tables are generally covered with disposable paper, and guests are given bibs, gloves, or other tools needed to peel shells and eat with their hands.
The concept draws from the Vietnamese-Cajun seafood-boil tradition that became especially popular in Southern California through restaurants combining Gulf Coast ingredients with Vietnamese flavors and dining customs.
The new Torrance location places The Kickin’ Crab within an area already known for Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Taiwanese, and other Asian dining options.
Because the restaurant is newly opened, diners should allow for the possibility of changing hours, early operational adjustments, or heavier-than-usual crowds.
People with shellfish allergies should exercise particular caution because shellfish is central to the restaurant’s menu and preparation environment.
