Summer vacation is entering its final stretch for Torrance Unified School District students.

The district’s first day of school is Thursday, August 20, officially beginning the 2026–27 academic year. The final day is scheduled for June 10, 2027.

Families should begin checking messages from their individual schools for information about class assignments, registration documents, campus procedures, supply lists and orientation activities. Dates and requirements may differ by grade level and school.

Parents and guardians should also verify that emergency contacts, authorized pickup information and health records are current. Families whose children walk, bicycle or use district or public transportation should review routes before the first morning, when traffic around campuses is typically heavier.

Drivers should prepare for school-zone congestion and watch carefully for children near crosswalks, bus stops and residential streets. Allowing extra travel time during the opening days can reduce frustration and improve safety.

The district maintains its academic calendar online, but families should rely on their school’s direct communications for campus-specific dates and instructions.
