Little Explorers Can Search for Wildlife at Madrona Marsh |
Tyke Hike invites young children and their favorite adults to discover birds, frogs and nature together. |

Torrance’s youngest nature lovers can enjoy an age-appropriate outdoor adventure during Tyke Hike at Madrona Marsh Preserve on Thursday, August 6, from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
The program invites children from three months through six years old to bring a favorite adult and explore the preserve together. Participants may listen for birds, look for frogs and learn about a different nature topic during the guided outing.
Tyke Hike provides young children with an opportunity to experience nature through observation and movement rather than a formal classroom lesson. The preserve’s changing wildlife, plants and seasonal conditions can make each visit different.
Families should meet inside the Madrona Marsh Nature Center. Closed-toed shoes are recommended because participants will be walking outdoors, and sun protection may be helpful depending on the morning’s conditions.
Adults should also bring water and choose clothing suitable for an outdoor nature walk. Strollers may not be practical on every portion of the preserve’s pathways, so families should plan according to their child’s age and mobility.
The program is especially suitable for parents, grandparents and caregivers looking for a gentle local activity that introduces young children to Torrance’s natural environment.
