Plant Lovers Can Trade Something Green at the Library |
A Friday afternoon succulent swap offers residents a simple way to refresh their plant collections. |

Residents with a healthy succulent to spare may be able to trade it for a new addition during the Torrance Public Library’s Succulent Swap on Friday, August 7, at 4:30 p.m.
The event is listed on the library’s August calendar alongside programs for children, teens and adults.
Plant swaps provide a low-cost way for gardeners to diversify their collections while sharing cuttings, propagated plants and growing knowledge with others. Succulents are especially well suited to exchanges because many varieties can be reproduced from small cuttings or offsets.
Participants should bring only healthy, pest-free plants and may want to label each contribution with its variety and any basic care instructions. Containers should be clean and secure enough to transport without spilling soil inside the library.
Availability will depend on what other participants bring, so residents should view the gathering as a community exchange rather than a guaranteed source for a particular plant.
Before attending, participants should check the official library calendar for the branch location and any rules concerning the number, size or condition of plants accepted.
