Families seeking permission for a student to attend a Torrance Unified school outside the student’s normal attendance arrangement should watch closely for enrollment communications this week.

Torrance Unified School District states that permit applications received between March 1 and August 5, 2026, will receive notice of acceptance or denial as soon as possible under the district’s published permit process.

Permit decisions may depend on factors including available space, the type of permit requested and whether all required documentation has been submitted.

Families should check:

  • Email inboxes and spam folders
  • Voicemail messages
  • Online enrollment or application accounts
  • Requests for residency or supporting documents
  •

A delayed response could affect a student’s placement, particularly as the first day of school approaches on August 20.

Receiving a permit is not necessarily the final enrollment step. Families may still need to complete registration forms, provide immunization records, verify residency or follow instructions from the assigned school.

Anyone who has not received an expected decision should contact the district’s enrollment office rather than relying on information from an individual campus or another family.
