Wilson Park’s New Pickleball Complex Is Getting Close to Opening |
Eight new courts could soon transform one of Torrance’s busiest recreation hubs |

This is an update to a project we previously reported.
The new pickleball courts at Wilson Park are moving closer to opening for play.
The City’s current project timeline calls for the complex to be completed during summer 2026, following groundbreaking and the start of construction in March.
The project will add eight dedicated pickleball courts at Wilson Park, providing a substantial permanent facility for a sport that has rapidly expanded in popularity among players of different ages and skill levels.
The development also comes with an interesting Torrance-specific rule. The City recently updated its zoning code so new public pickleball courts must generally be located at least 250 feet from residential property, measured from the center of a court. The requirement reflects concerns communities around the country have faced over the distinctive sound generated by pickleball play.
Wilson Park is already one of Torrance’s busiest recreation centers, hosting sports, the Farmers’ Market, community programs and major events. Adding a dedicated eight-court pickleball facility could turn it into an even stronger regional draw.
The City currently describes the opening as expected in summer rather than publishing a firm opening day, so players should watch for the official announcement before grabbing their paddles.
