Heidi Ashcraft Named Torrance’s 2026 Distinguished Citizen of the Year |
A longtime community leader will be honored at the State of the City in September |

A familiar name in Torrance civic life is receiving one of the community’s major honors.
The Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce announced August 6 that Heidi Ashcraft has been selected as the 2026 Distinguished Citizen of the Year. She is scheduled to receive the recognition during the Chamber’s State of the City program on Friday, September 25.
The honor is intended to recognize exceptional community involvement and service, making it a particularly fitting Local Love story.
Awards like this also provide a reminder that much of what makes a city work happens outside the spotlight—through residents who volunteer, participate in community organizations, support local institutions and consistently show up when something needs to be done.
Ashcraft’s recognition places that kind of long-term civic commitment front and center.
We will have more opportunities to celebrate the honorees as the September State of the City approaches, but for now, this is a well-deserved Torrance congratulations.
