One of Torrance’s fastest-growing technology companies just landed one of the biggest funding rounds we have covered.

Hadrian, an advanced manufacturing company headquartered in Torrance, has raised $1.37 billion in Series D equity financing, giving the company a reported valuation of $7.87 billion.

Hadrian builds highly automated factories designed to manufacture components and systems for the defense, aerospace and industrial sectors. The company says the new financing will accelerate construction of additional domestic manufacturing capacity and support its expansion into increasingly complex production.

The Torrance connection is particularly significant.

Hadrian is also expanding its local manufacturing footprint by approximately 300,000 square feet at the former Toyota headquarters property. The City of Torrance recently highlighted the expansion as an important local economic-development milestone.

That means this is not simply a Wall Street funding story involving a company whose mailing address happens to be in Torrance.

Hadrian is physically growing here.

The expansion is another sign that Torrance is becoming an increasingly important Southern California hub for advanced manufacturing, aerospace and defense technology.

For a city with deep industrial roots, the type of industry may be changing—but manufacturing remains very much part of Torrance’s economic identity.
