The first day of school does not have to end when the final bell rings.

Torrance’s THE ATTIC Teen Center is hosting a Welcome Back Ice Cream Social on Thursday, August 20, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. at 2320 W. Carson Street.

The event is designed to welcome both new and returning students with ice cream and icebreaker games as THE ATTIC begins another school year.

Admission to the event is free, and the City says all high school students in Torrance are welcome.

THE ATTIC provides a supervised place where local teens can spend time after school, meet other students and participate in recreational and social activities.

For incoming freshmen in particular, Thursday’s event could be an easy, low-pressure way to meet other Torrance students while getting acquainted with one of the city’s youth facilities.
