A New Torrance Food Program Is Helping Neighbors Who Need It Most |
Torrance Table Provides Monthly Food Support for Local Households |

Sometimes Local Love looks as simple as making sure a neighbor has something to eat.
Family Promise of the South Bay has partnered with First Christian Church in Torrance to launch Torrance Table, a community food program aimed at helping residents facing food insecurity.
The program provides monthly food distributions on the last Saturday of each month, along with quarterly hot meals.
But there is an important detail behind how organizers select the food.
Torrance Table specifically focuses on items that require little or no cooking and are easy to store and transport. That makes the food more useful for people who may be unhoused, newly housed or living with limited kitchen facilities.
Current donation needs include items such as granola bars, crackers, applesauce, shelf-stable meals, soup, pasta, rice, beans, peanut butter, cereal and oatmeal.
Family Promise says volunteers are also an important part of the program, helping with food distribution and other community support efforts.
The organization describes volunteers as the backbone of its programs—and Torrance Table gives local residents another practical way to help neighbors who may be going through a difficult period.
It's exactly the kind of small, community-driven effort Local Love was created to spotlight.
