Torrance-Based Honda Celebrates a New Motocross Champion |
Hunter Lawrence captures his first premier-class title |

A championship trophy is headed into the Honda family — and the company celebrating it has its U.S. headquarters right here in Torrance.
Honda rider Hunter Lawrence has captured his first championship in the premier 450MX class of the AMA Pro Motocross Championship.
The title came after an exceptionally close season-long battle with his younger brother and Honda teammate, Jett Lawrence. The brothers entered the final round separated by just one point.
Hunter ultimately secured the championship after recording six victories and nine podium finishes across the 11-round season.
Jett Lawrence finished second, giving the brothers the top two positions in the championship standings for the second consecutive year.
The victory also extended Honda’s record to 16 championships in the premier class of the Pro Motocross series.
American Honda Motor Co., Honda’s U.S. subsidiary, is headquartered in Torrance, giving the accomplishment a local connection to one of the city’s best-known corporate residents.
