Torrance Police are continuing to investigate a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred near Madrona Avenue and Garnet Street.

Police and Torrance Fire Department personnel responded at approximately 8:40 p.m. on August 24 after a vehicle struck a pedestrian.

According to the initial investigation, the pedestrian was crossing Madrona Avenue outside a marked crosswalk.

Southbound traffic had stopped to allow the pedestrian to cross, but as the pedestrian continued across the roadway, a northbound vehicle struck him.

Fire Department personnel provided medical assistance, but the pedestrian died at the scene.

Police say the driver remained at the location and cooperated with investigators.

The driver was also determined not to be under the influence of alcohol.

The Torrance Police Traffic Division and Forensic Investigations Team are continuing to investigate the collision.
