Pueblo Park Is Hiding Community-Made Art in Plain Sight |
Tiny neighborhood park doubles as an outdoor gallery created by Torrance residents |

Some hidden gems are hidden because they are small.
Pueblo Park, tucked along Del Amo Boulevard in northeast Torrance, covers only about half an acre — considerably smaller than many of the city’s better-known parks.
But there is something here you may miss if you only notice the playground and basketball court.
In 2014, Torrance’s Cultural Services Division invited neighborhood residents to create their own hand-painted ceramic tiles during a free community art project led by artist Karen Sochar.
Those tiles were then incorporated permanently throughout Pueblo Park.
The result is essentially a small outdoor art installation created by the people who live around it — individual designs combining into something that belongs specifically to the neighborhood.
Pueblo Park also includes a picnic area, barbecues, playground, basketball court, meeting rooms and a small grass area.
But the tiles are what make this little park worth slowing down for.
The next time you’re nearby, skip the quick drive-by and take a closer look. You may discover dozens of tiny pieces of Torrance creativity hiding right in front of you.
