McMaster Park Has a Firetruck Waiting for Kids to Discover |
A North Torrance park packs several neighborhood destinations into one stop |

Wilson Park gets plenty of attention, but North Torrance has a smaller park with an unusual personality of its own.
McMaster Park, located at 3624 Artesia Boulevard, covers about 5.5 acres and sits directly beside the North Torrance Library.
One feature that may catch younger visitors’ attention is something the City identifies in its park photos as “Freddy the Firetruck.”
The firetruck-themed play equipment gives the playground a little more character than the typical swings-and-slides experience.
The park also includes picnic space, a softball field, basketball court, playground, restrooms and meeting facilities.
It is also home to the Herma Tillim Senior Center, while the adjacent library makes it possible to combine a park visit with books, children’s programming or a quiet indoor break.
There is even an electric-vehicle charging station on site.
McMaster is not a destination park in the traditional sense — and that is precisely why it qualifies as a Hidden Gem.
It is one of those neighborhood places that can quietly turn into an easy family afternoon once you realize how much is concentrated in one spot.
