Inside the newly opened Hannam Chain Del Amo store at 21305 Hawthorne Boulevard is WOORI ZIP Mom’s Cooking, a Korean comfort-food counter built around the kind of soups and rice dishes that feel more like home cooking than food-court fare.

The name says it plainly: Mom’s Cooking.

One of the standout dishes is gamjatang, a hearty Korean pork-bone-and-potato soup known for its rich, spicy broth.

Other options include yukgaejang, a spicy shredded-beef soup; galbi tang, a milder beef short-rib soup; tofu soup, bibimbap and noodle dishes.

Meals are served counter-style with shared food-court seating, making this much more casual than a traditional sit-down Korean restaurant.

That is part of the appeal.

You can shop, order a steaming bowl, grab a seat and be eating within minutes.

Hannam Chain lists Woori Zip among four food concepts in the Del Amo store’s food court, alongside Paris Baguette and other Korean-focused operators.

For Torrance residents who already visit the market, this may become the dangerous part of grocery shopping: going in for produce and walking out after a full bowl of gamjatang.
