Providence Temporarily Closes Its Inpatient Pediatric Unit |
Emergency pediatric care remains available, but children needing hospitalization may now be transferred elsewhere. |

Families using Providence Little Company of Mary Medical Center Torrance should know about a temporary change in pediatric care.
The hospital closed its inpatient pediatric unit effective August 23, although children can still receive emergency evaluation and treatment in Providence Torrance’s Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics.
If a child needs to be admitted to a hospital, Providence says its care team will coordinate a transfer to a regional children’s hospital.
The hospital has characterized the change as temporary and says pediatric emergency services remain available. For Torrance families, the important distinction is that the emergency room remains an option for children — but an inpatient stay may now involve a transfer to another facility.
