Torrance’s Giant Chargers Mural Is Now Unveiled |
Justin Herbert and Derwin James now tower 12 stories over Hawthorne Boulevard. |

What Torrance residents watched taking shape along Hawthorne Boulevard is now officially finished.
Acclaimed Los Angeles muralist Robert Vargas unveiled “The Storm Is Coming” on September 8, transforming the north side of the DoubleTree by Hilton Torrance–South Bay into a 12-story tribute to Chargers stars Justin Herbert and Derwin James.
The mural sits opposite Vargas’ Dodgers-themed “Samurai of the Diamond” on the same hotel, turning the property into one of Torrance’s most visible public-art landmarks.
The City says roughly 70,000 vehicles travel that stretch of Hawthorne Boulevard each day, meaning millions of drivers will pass the paired murals each year.
