If your ideal weekend outing involves something a little more memorable than dinner and errands, Madrona Marsh has a good option. Its Star Party is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, from 7 to 9:30 p.m., featuring telescope viewing and a space-themed presentation built around recent images and discoveries connected to the James Webb Telescope.

Held at Madrona Marsh Nature Center & Preserve, 3201 Plaza del Amo, the event adds a science-and-nature twist to the weekend calendar. It is the kind of event that feels especially well-suited to Torrance: educational, low-key, family-friendly and just unusual enough to stand out from the typical Saturday-night lineup.
