If you have been thinking about getting more involved in Torrance government, this week brings a firm deadline.

The City is accepting applications for openings on the Civil Service Commission, Historic Preservation Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, and Commission on Aging.

Completed applications must be received by the City Clerk’s Office no later than 5 p.m. Thursday, September 17. Mailing an application that day is not enough — the City specifically notes that postmarks will not be accepted.

Applicants must be registered Torrance voters and current on the City’s required Commission Certification. Candidates are also responsible for scheduling interviews with the Mayor and City Council.

Applications may be submitted online, delivered to City Hall or sent to the City Clerk by other approved methods.
