Castelion’s Hypersonic Missile Is Moving Into Production |
A new Navy order could be worth as much as $200 million. |

Another Torrance aerospace startup is moving from development into full-scale manufacturing.
Castelion announced that the U.S. Navy has awarded the company a production delivery order valued at up to $200 million for its Blackbeard hypersonic weapon.
The order covers manufacturing, assembly, testing and delivery of an initial production lot. It follows the Navy’s earlier order for 50 Early Operational Capability weapons in June.
That transition is significant because many defense startups spend years developing prototypes without reaching sustained production.
Castelion is now moving Blackbeard closer to operational fleet use while expanding its manufacturing presence in Torrance.
Alongside Antares, Hadrian, Divergent and other advanced-manufacturing companies, Castelion is helping make Torrance one of the South Bay’s most active centers for defense and aerospace technology.
