Entradero Park Is More Than It Looks |
One of Torrance’s largest parks quietly doubles as part of the city’s stormwater system. |

Located at 5500 Towers Street, the park stretches across 26.5 acres, making it the second-largest park in Torrance. But unlike a conventional neighborhood park, Entradero has always had a second job.
The land was originally used exclusively as a stormwater sump, collecting runoff before the city gradually transformed part of it into recreational space. Groundbreaking for the park began in 1963, and the project was completed in 1965.
Today, the property still functions as part of Torrance’s water-management system while offering a playground, basketball court, softball fields, picnic areas and a walking path.
That unusual combination is what makes Entradero such an interesting hidden gem.
What looks like a large green neighborhood park is actually a piece of working city infrastructure that has been adapted so residents can use and enjoy the land at the same time.
It is one of those distinctly Torrance places where recreation and practical city planning quietly coexist.
