A major Nike running event is coming through Torrance next month, and City Hall is working through the logistics now.

At its September 15 meeting, the City Council considered the updated course route and proposed fees for the Nike After Dark Tour LA 2026, scheduled for Saturday, October 24.

The agenda item did not simply concern permission for the event.

Large organized races can require coordination involving police, traffic control, barricades, street operations and other city services. That is why route design and reimbursement of city costs can become important pieces of the approval process.

For residents, the practical issue will be where the race travels and which streets could be affected.

The event is still several weeks away, so this is one worth putting on the radar now — particularly for anyone living or driving near the eventual course.
