There is one calendar detail worth flagging this week.

The Torrance City Council is scheduled to meet Tuesday, September 22 at 5 p.m., but this is not a regular Council business meeting.

The City lists it as a closed-session-only meeting. Closed sessions are limited by state law to specified matters that may legally be discussed privately, such as litigation, real-estate negotiations and certain employee matters.

Residents expecting the normal evening agenda of public hearings, staff reports and Council votes should therefore not treat September 22 as an ordinary meeting night.

The City’s published schedule shows the next regular City Council meeting on Tuesday, October 6 at 6:30 p.m.

We mentioned this briefly in City Hall Watch, but I would repeat it here because it can prevent someone from making an unnecessary trip expecting a normal Council meeting.
