Maersk Takes Over PUMA’s Massive Torrance Distribution Center |
One of Torrance’s biggest automated warehouses is now being managed by a global logistics giant |

One of Torrance’s largest automated distribution operations has a new manager.
Global shipping and logistics company Maersk announced that it is now operating PUMA’s U.S. distribution network, including the company’s highly automated Torrance facility.
The Torrance warehouse is one of three PUMA distribution centers now being managed by Maersk, alongside facilities in Phoenix, Arizona, and Whitestown, Indiana. Together, the three locations cover approximately 2.3 million square feet and serve PUMA’s wholesale customers, retail stores and e-commerce business.
What makes the Torrance connection especially interesting is the level of automation already built into the facility. Maersk says its role is not to replace PUMA’s infrastructure, but to use its logistics expertise, technology and broader transportation network to improve how the existing operation performs.
That includes getting more value from automated systems while improving fulfillment and distribution efficiency.
For Torrance, this is another sign of how the city’s industrial base is evolving.
The local economy is increasingly home not only to traditional manufacturing and aerospace companies, but also to sophisticated logistics, robotics, automation and technology-intensive warehouse operations.
Having one of the world’s largest logistics companies directly managing a major Torrance distribution center adds another global name to that mix.
